Echoes of Legend

About Echoes of Legend

This short form animated series is inspired by Southeast Asian mythology and contains nine episodes.

Set in a crumbling empire ruled by a singular god, the story follows a poor boy named Tooth as he uncovers a dangerous connection to long-forgotten powers.

With this shift of power forces arise that could either save the empire or tear it apart.

Director’s Statement

Echoes of Legend is a dark fantasy series rooted in my ongoing exploration of identity, power, and spiritual inheritance. While the story unfolds in a fictional empire, its emotional core draws from my own lived experiences as someone raised within a controlling evangelical faith.

It’s a spiritual revenge tale. A prayer spoken in defiance. A whisper from the old gods we were told to forget. Tooth, the protagonist, begins as a lowly con artist with no lineage, no legacy, and no voice. His journey through betrayal, divine connection, and transformation mirrors my own reckoning with ancestral memory, religious dogma, and the question of what it means to carry the weight of a history you never asked for.

Each episode was crafted with the help of a global team of collaborators working across animation, illustration, score composition, and sound design with the support of AI tools. The aesthetic references are inspired by Southeast Asian textures and visual language.

This series is about what happens when you dare to question the world you were born into, and what rises from within when everything is stripped from you. I hope Echoes of Legend resonates with anyone who has ever been silenced or exiled, and chose to rise above it.

I am not a color palette. I do not separate my interests into little compartments. I am a seamless blend of pigments and hues. My mission, to positively touch people's lives, bleeds into my love for the stage, which in turns, swirls with my strong work ethic. The product, is my expression on paper. A famous person may have said once that to write is to create a thought and idea and immortalize it.
